The production of Oedipus by Sophocles, directed by Vito Taufer from Slovenia, will have its fiftieth performance on the YDT main stage on Monday, 19 th February.
The cast of this tragedy of Oedipus, which opened on 17 th September, 2022 on the Ljuba Tadić stage of the Yugoslav Drama Theatre, includes Milan Marić, Nataša Ninković, Srđan Timarov, Bojan Dimitrijević, Aleksandar Đurica, Miloš Samolov, Nebojša Ljubišić, Zoran Cvijanović, Joakim Tasić, Milan Bobić, Luka Antonijević, Luka Sević, Veljko Stevanović and Marko Radojević (singer). The production ensemble also includes musicians Darko Golić (double bass) and Luka Lopičić (accordeon). Text adapted by Vesna Radovanović and Marko Manojlović, set design by Lazar Bodroža, costume design by Marija Marković Milojev with the original score composed by Robert Pešut – Magnifico and Aleksander Pešut – Schatz!.
This production of Oedipus was performed to great acclaim at 10 th international theatre festival MITEM in Budapest, the ZYT in Zagreb, Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad, Slovene National Theatre Drama in Ljubljana and new guest performances are being scheduled in the near future for the theatre festivals in Rijeka and Porto.
Oedipus was declared the best production of the Without Translation festival of Yugoslav Theatre in Užice where Milan Marić received the Ardalion award for best male actor and Marija Marković Milojev received the Ardalion for best costume design.
