The Mercy Seat, a two hander, by Neil LaBute, directed by Jana Maričić, with Aleksandra Janković and Milan Marić, will have its fiftieth performance this evening.
The Mercy Seat is a story about Ben who finds himself in the New York flat owned by Abby, his boss and mistress, one day after the great national tragedy and the events which will forever change the world we live in. He has an unusual choice before him – whether to go back to the family life he led only yesterday, or take advantage of an opportunity that has suddenly appeared, now when everyone believes he had died in the attack on World Trade Center.
This is an exciting psychological drama by one of the most important contemporary playwrights Neil LaBute, about a battle between the sexes but also about people slowly beginning to reveal, to each other and to us, the vulnerable and darker side of themselves and their relationship. This production first opened on 18th November, 2017 on the Studio YDT stage.
The Mercy Seat was performed at the Small Scenes Theatre Festival in Rijeka (Croatia), the theatre festival at Petrovac na Moru (Montenegro), Two-Hander theatre festival at Topola where it won the best production award and the best male and female actor awards went to Aleksandra Janković and Milan Marić and at ?anki u Čast theatre festival at Rabrovo where Aleksandra Janković won the best actress award.
