The posters designed by the world renowned designer Mirko Ilić for the Yugoslav Drama Theatre productions have already received a number of awards to which several new ones have been added recently. Among others is the prestigious American Graphis Silver Award for 2022 which Mirko Ilić won for his design of posters for the productions of Kaspar, Who the Fuck Started All This, The Belgrade Trilogy and Offing. The posters will be published in the Graphis Poster Annual 2022 publication. Graphis magazine was founded in 1944 and is one of the most respectable and influential magazines promoting the best works in the field of design, advertising, photography and illustration. Every year, Graphis publishes the best works in its Annual publication.
The exhibition under the title of Moscow Poster Competition, organised by the Moscow Union of Artists, of a selection from around the world of best poster design solutions included works by Mirko Ilić for the productions of Uncle Vanya and The Mercy Seat. A catalogue accompanying the exhibition is also published and contains all the selected posters including the above mentioned two.
Over the last four seasons, during which we have been working with Mirko Ilić, the posters he has designed for the Yugoslav Drama Theatre productions have won a number of awards, among them the already mentioned Graphis Silver Award for the productions of Lorenzaccio and Uncle Vanya 2019, as well as the productions of The Glass Neck, Uncle Vanya and Nathan the Wise 2020. Only last year, the posters for the productions of Uncle Vanya, The Glass Neck and La Celestina received an award for excellence from the international journal of art and design Creative Quarterly. The posters for the productions of The Glass Neck, Lorenzaccio, Nathan the Wise, Uncle Vanya and La Celestina also won the prestigious Reward for Excellence award in illustration from the US based Communication Art magazine. The poster for the production of Who the Fuck Started All This was published in the Asia Pacific Design annual publication, the first and the most influential publication in that region in the field of design. The posters for the productions of The Glass Neck, Lorenzaccio, Nathan the Wise, La Celestina and Uncle Vanya found their way into the book entitled Making Posters by world renowned, multiple award winners Scott Laswerow and Natalia Delgado. The selection of works from all over the world exhibited at the Moscow Golden Bee International Graphic Design Biennale included the posters designed by Mirko Ilić for the productions of Who the Fuck Started All This and The Travelling Troupe Šopalović.
