
The play Oedipus based on Sophocles, directed by Vito Taufer, will have its 100th performance on Thursday, January 29th. So far, the tragedy of Oedipus, which was premiered on 17th September 2022, has been presented as a guest performance on the stages of the São João National Theatre of Porto, the Istanbul City Theatre (two performances), the ZKM (Zagreb Youth Theatre) in Zagreb, the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad, and the Slovenian National Theatre Drama in Ljubljana. The play took part at the “Mitem Festival” in Budapest, the Theatre Marathon in Sombor, the International Small Scene Theatre Festival in Rijeka, where it was awarded as the best performance as a whole, for the leading male role (Milan Marić) and the best young actor (Joakim Tasić), and received the Audience Award, the Yugoslav Theatre Festival “Without Translation”, where it was delivered the Ardalion Award for the best performance, the best male role, the best costume, and the Audience Award, and the “Purgatories” Mediterranean Theater Festival, where it was awarded for the best performance and the best actor (Milan Marić).
Milan Marić’s title role in the performance Oedipus earned him the “Belgrade City Award” for theatrical achievement in 2022.
