The exhibition “Mirko Ilić: Prologue – Theatre Posters for the Yugoslav Drama Theatre” will open on April 24, 2026 at the A0 Gallery of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje. The event is produced by “FLUID Design Forum 14/2026” and NGO FLUX.
For nine seasons, Mirko Ilić has been designing posters for YDT productions. Each season explores a distinct stylistic direction, and many of these posters have been honored with prestigious awards.
According to the organizers: “Each poster is a “prologue” in itself, yet together they form a cohesive body of work that demonstrates a diverse range of expression and a clear artistic continuity, skillfully blending illustration and typography.
If we consider a theatrical production to be a director’s explication of a theme and a specific dramatic text, then the theatre poster is an explication of that same theme, the text, and the director’s and actors’ interpretation.
This is why we chose a theatrical term for the exhibition title – one that introduces us to the plot, the themes, and the characters. Much like a prologue, Mirko Ilić takes on the role of narrator through his designs, providing a unique visual introduction and preparing us for the story to follow. ”
The exhibition, which runs until May 24, offers the audience in Cetinje a rare opportunity to see the majority of Ilić’s posters designed for the Yugoslav Drama Theatre productions in a single venue.
