The Yugoslav Drama Theatre production Man’s Teardrop, based on the works of A.P. Chekhov and directed by Aleksandar Popovski, will feature at the 50th Fadil Hadžić Days of Satire theatre festival in Zagreb, Croatia. The festival opened on 2nd June and runs until 20th June. This milestone 50th edition of Fadil Hadžić Days of Satire celebrates its jubilee with a programme that turns contemporary chaos, class injustice, political hypocrisy, and collective numbness into central theatrical themes.

The Man’s Tear is scheduled for performance on Wednesday, 17th June. Chekhov’s commentary on the banality of male machismo and a patriarchy that dictates the suppression of tears—which inevitably surface sooner or later—is woven into a story where characters, trapped in a tavern during an apocalyptic storm, look back on love, but also on the weaknesses, infatuations, and delusions that deprived them of it.

The production premiered on 12th October 2024, and the cast features Vojin Ćetković, Sanja Marković, Nenad Jezdić, Miodrag Dragičević, Zoran Cvijanović, Milena Živanović, Miloš Samolov, Teodora Dragičević, and Teodor Vinčić.

Based on a concept by Aleksandar Popovski, the adaptation and dramaturgy is by David Jakovljević. The creative team includes dramaturge Vesna Radovanović, set designer Vanja Magić, costume designer Mia Popovska, music is by Kiril Džajkovski, and speech coach is Ljiljana Mrkić Popović.
