50th performance of the highly successful sell-out production of My Husband, based on the eponymous book of short stories by Rumena Buzharovska, directed by Jovana Tomić, is scheduled for Thursday, 28th April.
The production opened on 18th April 2021 on the YDT Studio Stage, attended by the author Rumena Buzharovska, with the cast of Jovana Belović and Sanja Marković. Dramaturgy by Dimitrije Kokanov, costume design by Maja Marković with original score composed by Luka Major. The book by Rumena Buzharovska was translated by Irena Šentevska.
So far, the production of My Husband had guest performances at the MOT International Theatre Festival in Skopje, the Ohrid Summer Festival at Ohrid (North Macedonia), Belef Festival in Belgrade. It received best production awards at the Zaplet 13 International Festival in Banja Luka and at the Two-Hander theatre festival in Topola where Jovana Belović and Sanja Marković won the best actress awards.
The Yugoslav Drama Theatre Annual Award for the production of My Husband went to Jovana Tomić for theatre direction, Dimitrije Kokanov for dramaturgy and to Jovana Belović and Sanja Marković for the plethora of characters they portray in this production. For their roles in this production, the two actresses also received the YDT and the Branka and Mlađa Veselinović YDT Foundation awards for best actor in a Yugoslav Drama Theatre production as well as the Nebojša Glogovac award for outstanding artistic creation by a young actor, established last year by the YDT in cooperation with the City of Belgrade.
Performances of My Husband are scheduled for 7th & 8th May at the International Small Scenes Theatre Festival in Rijeka.
