In the words of director Veljko Mićunović: Eldorado, an illusion of wealth, megalomania and consumerism that our world is steeped in. A destructive obsession. Skyscrapers made of glass that rise high above the dusty mists. Everything that is old has been removed. No matter how old. Dilapidated buildings have been pulled down and families have been displaced. Sent to live somewhere else. In cardboard boxes. Shanty towns. Rusty containers. Shipwrecked or placed there on purpose. Eldorado, a city in the making rising from the ruins or remains of what was there before. It makes no difference. Neighbourhoods, quadrants, dehumanisation, greed, moral degradation. Polished capitalism. A dystopian vision of the world where the characters in the play find themselves which sheds a light on people who’ve swallowed the idea of Eldorado hook, line and sinker. But their hypersensitive and vulnerable souls are riddled with guilt in the face of madness that surrounds them.
Additional performances of Eldorado scheduled for 25th March and 3rd & 9th April.
