A guest performance of Amadeus by Peter Shaffer, directed by Aleksandar Popovski and produced by the Slovene National Theatre Drama from Maribor is scheduled for Tuesday, 26th November at the Yugoslav Drama Theatre.
This is a pseudobiographical dramedy about one of the most famous composers of all time, penned by the renowned English playwright, screenplay author and novelist who in his life received a number of prestigious awards for his work. Shaffer’s best known work – Amadeus – premièred in 1979 but became world famous after Milos Forman turned it into an acclaimed feature film in 1984. Amadeus is based on a myth about the lives and rivalry between composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri. Shaffer drew his inspiration from a short play Mozart and Salieri by Alexander Pushkin, written in 1830.
Directed by the artistic director of Maribor Drama Aleksandar Popovski, set design by Vanja Magić, costume design by Marita Ćopo with choreography by Rosana Hribar.
The cast includes Aleš Valič, Žan Koprivnik, Julija Klavžar, Davor Herga, Matija Stipanič, Matevž Biber, Katarina Barbara Krnjak, Sofia Ticchi, Tina Rojko, Eva Mlakar Poštrak and Boris Kavaca (voice).
