Nikolay Vladimirovich Kolyada, playwright, theatre director, actor and teacher died in Yekaterinburg in Russia on 2nd March, 2026. He wrote over 120 plays and his works have been performed at a number of theatres around USA, Britain, Germany, Italy, France, Austria, Finland and Canada. Kolyada is one of the most renowned playwrights in the world. His plays have been translated to more than 20 foreign languages, including Serbian. These include Chicken, Slingshot, Murlin Murlo, A Tale About the Dead Tsarina, The Great Soviet Encyclopaedia, among others.

His Oginski Polonaise premièred at the Yugoslav Drama Theatre in 1996, directed by Vida Ognjenović and Chicken was produced by the Budva City Theatre in 1999, directed by Jagoš Marković.
