Rehearsals have begun at the Yugoslav Drama Theatre for The Career of Nicodemus Dyzma by Tadeusz Dołęga-Mostowicz, directed by Ivan Vanja Alač.

Although virtually unknown in our region, the novel by Tadeusz Dołęga-Mostowicz left a defining mark on interwar Polish literature and became a cultural staple of its era. Just as the term “Glembayism” emerged from Miroslav Krleža’s famous play, the main character of this novel inspired the term “Dyzmaism”—a socio-political phenomenon describing the rise of incompetent, mediocre, or semi-educated individuals to high-ranking positions in society.

The cast includes Nikola Rakočević, Marija Vicković, Aleksandar Đurica, Marko Janketić, Aleksej Bjelogrlić, Vanja Nenadić, Milica Gojković, Miloš Samolov, Milica Trifunović, Ognjen Nikola Radulović, Rista Milutinović, Radosav Janjić, Jovana Sijerković, Aleksa Kangrga, and Vladislav Veljković.

The creative team includes dramaturg Fedor Šili, set designer Gorčin Stojanović, costume designer Biljana Grgur, and composer Ana Krstajić. Biljana Todorović is in charge of stage speech, while Anka Gaćeša Kostić is handling stage movement.

The premiere is scheduled for mid-December.
