The Crucible directed by Nikita Milivojević on Ljuba Tadić stage

A guest performace of The Crucible by Arthur Miller, directed by Nikita Milivojević, is scheduled for Sunday, 9 th June at 8pm on the Ljuba Tadić stage of Yugoslav Drama Theatre.

The production premièred in November last year and the cast includes: Jelena Đulvezan/Ivana Pančić, Teodora Marčeta, Mia Simonović, Nikolina Vujević/Nina Rukavina, Sonja Isailović, Alisa Lacko, Branislav Jerković, Marija Medenica, Miroslav Fabri, Mirjana Gardinovački, Dušan Jakšić, Lidija Stevanović, Aleksandar Gajin, Jugoslav Krajnov, Vukašin Ranđelović, Nenad Pećinar, Milan Kovačević, Gordana Kamenarović, Maja Čampar, Anica Petrović, Marija Feldeši, Nevena Nerandžić, Nikolina Vujević. Set design by Nikita Milivojević and Želјko Piškorić, costume design by Marina Sremac, stage movement and music selected by Amalia Bennett.

The play by Arthur Miller was first staged in 1953 and is his most performed work.

Director Nikita Miliovjević said during rehearsals: I am interested in the subject of fear as the main instrument for manipulating people. (…) Over a number of years I have felt as if I were living in a kind of “Salem” (the whole world seems more like Salem every day), where people constantly hallucinate – you see what others cannot, stories are made up, people are set up, there is pretence everywhere….in a word, there is always some witch hunt going on, and people are made to feel afraid of all kinds of “witches”.

Culture in Novi Sad.
