The opening night of The Metamorophosis by Franz Kafka, directed by Marko Torlaković, is scheduled for Sunday, 15th December at 8.30pm on the Ćirilov Studio stage.

The cast includes Iva Manojlović, Marko Pavlovski, Stojša Oljačić, Hristina Tatić and Sara Pavlović.

In addition to directing the production, Torlaković also adapted the text for stage and composed the original score. Set and costume design by Irina Somborac, dramaturgy by Vesna Radovanović with Ljiljana Mrkić Popović in charge of speech coaching.

Franz Kafka wrote The Metamorphosis in 1912 and it was first published in 1915. The story is one of Kafka’s most famous works and its 70 odd pages represent his longest story published during his lifetime.

Gregor Samsa, the main protagonist of The Metamorphosis, wakes up one day only to realise he has turned into an enormous insect. Even though he initially believes the condition is temporary, he soon realises he will have to come to terms with his new life and the horrible state to which he has been condemned. This horrifying crisis will shed a light on all the cruelty of his family – living off his own work – and thanks to the depth of Kafka’s talent it also sheds a light on the disturbing condition of the entire society to which he belongs.

The Metamorphosis will be the first production on the Studio YDT stage after acquiring its new name – The Ćirilov Studio.

Additional performances are scheduled for 16th, 22nd and 28th December.
