The National Theatre Sombor is organizing its 34th Theatre Marathon, held from 10th to 13th June under the slogan “Better Life”. On Saturday, 13th June, the Marathon will feature a performance of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, directed by Nataša Radulović.
The production stars Joakim Tasić, Srđan Timarov, Vesna Čipčić, Teodor Vinčić, Jana Nenadović, and Stefan Jevtović. Its premiere took place on 10th October 2025, marking the first premiere of the Yugoslav Drama Theatre’s current season.
The creative team includes dramaturg Nataša Radulović, set designer Jasmina Holbus, costume designer Biljana Grgur, and composer Ana Krstajić. Stage movement is designed by Marta Bjelica, and stage speech by Ljiljana Mrkić Popović.
As one of the most significant literary works of the 19th century, the story explores the obsessive relationship with beauty, examining the outer shell and what lies beneath it. In his only novel, Wilde wrote about sin and conscience, the hidden dangers of the metropolis, and the anguish of the soul. The Picture of Dorian Gray is not only a great work of literature but also a civilizational and cultural turning point in the way we perceive the fundamental values of our own era.
Earlier this May, the production of The Picture of Dorian Gray also opened the 31st International Small Scene Theatre Festival in Rijeka.
