At the recently held 28th edition of the Yugoslav theatre festival in Užice, the production of Oedipus won three Ardalion awards.

The jury comprised of Miodrag Tabački (jury president), Urša Raukar-Gamulin, Miloš Latinović, Branislava Ilić and Milan Nešković determined that the ARDALION AWARD FOR BEST PRODUCTION should go to the Yugoslav Drama Theatre’s Oedipus “for its singularly modern interpretation of a classical text”. The ARDALION AWARD FOR BEST MALE ACTOR went to Milan Marić for his portrayal of Oedipus in the eponymous play. “Marić adopted a thoughtful and yet eruptive approach to an antique character bringing it closer to this modern day and age, thus demonstrating that people and times do not change all that much”. The ARDALION AWARD FOR BEST COSTUME DESIGN went to Marija Marković-Milojev for her designs in the Yugoslav Drama Theatre production of Oedipus and Belgrade’s National Theatre production of Fathers and Forefathers. “In both productions, Marija Marković-Milojev remained highly imaginative and yet true to the historical context of these two plays”.

The audience award with an average mark of 4.8 also went to the production of Oedipus.
