Rehearsals began today at the Yugoslav Drama Theatre for the new production of Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen, directed by Iva Milošević.
Even though the play was first performed over a hundred years ago, the heroine of the play is very much of our time. But, who is she today? The destiny of Hedda Gabler from the end of 19th century holds up a mirror to us, here and now, making us question whether we are in any way more aware or capable to face up to the darkness inside us.
The cast includes Jovana Belović, Joakim Tasić, Nebojša Milovanović, Milica Mihajlović, Marko Janketić, Lenka Petrović and Katarina Veljović.
Translation by Sofija Bilandžija, dramaturgy by Vesna Radovanović, set design by Gorčin Stojanović, costume design by Lana Cvijanović, original score composed by Vladimir Pejković with Ljiljana Mrkić Popović in charge of speech coaching.
This production of Hedda Gabler is scheduled to open in May.
