Late last week, the General Manager of the Yugoslav Drama Theatre, Tamara Vučković, was a guest of the Paris-based theatre Comédie-Française, which premiered Jean Genet’s The Maids (Les Bonnes) at the Théâtre de l’Athénée Louis-Jouvet. The production was directed by Carme Portaceli, the Spanish director who helmed YDT’s 2023 production of Fires as part of a collaborative project under the Union of European Theatres (UTE). During her stay in Paris, the YDT General Manager held meetings with the programming directors of the Odéon-Théâtre de l’Europe and Comédie-Française, as well as the management of the Théâtre de la Ville – Sarah Bernhardt. These meetings resulted in agreements for future collaboration between YDT and the most prominent theatres in Paris.

Over the past weekend, Thessaloniki hosted the final phase of the UTE ACADEMY educational project, which brought together young actors and actresses from member theatres of the Union of European Theatres. During their time in Thessaloniki, the young talents participated in workshops and rehearsals. The project concluded on Sunday, September 20th, with the premiere of a performance developed over three previous modules in Rome, Prague, and Sofia. YDT actresses Hristina Tatić and Marta Bogosavljević both took part in this initiative.

On Monday, September 21st, a meeting of the Board of the Union of European Theatres was held, attended by the YDT General Manager, Tamara Vučković, who serves as a board member. The meeting focused on new projects, exchanges, and the upcoming UTE Electoral General Assembly, scheduled to take place this December in Luxembourg.
