Rehearsals began today at the Yugoslav Drama Theatre for the production of Michael Kohlhaas by Heinrich von Kleist, directed by Boris Liješević.
The novella Michael Kohlhaas is the best known prose work by this author who is considered the best example of Romanticism in German literature. Even today, two centuries later, Kleist remains extraordinarily modern in his style, themes and the ideology of his exceptional opus.
The story of Michael Kohlhaas is that of a man travelling through Saxony and who enters a dispute with the local authorities and his decision to pursue justice. The cast includes Vojin Ćetković, Vojislav Brajović, Miodrag Dragičević, Milena Vasić, Nikola Rakočević, Zoran Cvijanović, Miloš Samolov and Aleksej Bjelogrlić.
Text adapted for the stage by Fedor Šili, set design by Darko Nedeljković with costumes designed by Marina Sremac.
The production is expected to open in April this year on our Ljuba Tadić main stage.
