A performance of Lorenzaccio by Alfred de Musset, directed by Boris Liješević is scheduled for Friday, 22nd November as part of 18th International Theatre Festival in Cluj, Romania.
The festival is organised by the Union of Theatres of Europe and this year it will be held between 19th and 30th November. A meeting of the members of the most important theatre organisation in Europe will be held during the festival. Yugoslav Drama Theatre became a member of UTE in 2006.
Lorenzaccio received the Ardalion award for best production at 24th Without Translation festival of Yugoslav theatre in Užice. Milan Marić won the Ardalion best male actor award and Miodrag Dragičević the Ardalion best upcoming actor award for their performances in this production. Dragičević also won the Avdo Mujčinović award presented by The Politika daily. The jury justified their decision with these words: “This production of Lorenzaccio finds an exciting and well conceived methods of transposing the romanticism of the time when the play was written and the context of renaissance ardour in which the action is set straight into the confusion and neuralgia of modern day. This sets the stage for a brave dialogue with the audience where questions of civilisation leave no doubt that the idea of progress rests on the nobleness of spirit.”
