Performances of My Husband by Rumena Buzharovska, directed by Jovana Tomić, are scheduled for Saturday, 7th and Sunday 8th May at 27th International Small Scenes Theatre Festival in Rijeka (Croatia).
The production is based on the eponymous collection of short stories by Rumena Buzharovska with the cast of Jovana Belović and Sanja Marković. Dramaturgy by Dimitrije Kokanov, costume design by Maja Mirković with the original score composed by Luka Major. The book by Rumena Buzharovska was translated by Irena Šentevska.
The production of My Husband had its 50th performance only last week and so far it has had guest performances at the MOT International Theatre Festival in Skopje, the Ohrid Summer Festival at Ohrid (North Macedonia), Belef Festival in Belgrade. It received best production awards at the Zaplet 13 International Festival in Banja Luka and at the Two-Hander theatre festival in Topola where Jovana Belović and Sanja Marković were joint winners of the best actress award.
The Yugoslav Drama Theatre Annual Award for the production of My Husband went to Jovana Tomić for theatre direction, Dimitrije Kokanov for dramaturgy and to Jovana Belović and Sanja Marković for the plethora of characters they portray in this production. For their roles in this production, the two actresses also received the YDT and the Branka and Mlađa Veselinović YDT Foundation awards for best actor in a Yugoslav Drama Theatre production as well as the Nebojša Glogovac award for outstanding artistic creation by a young actor, established last year by the YDT in cooperation with the City of Belgrade.
