The Travelling Troupe Šopalović by Ljubomir Simović, directed by Jagoš Marković, was performed to great acclaim on Saturday, 21st May at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb.
The auditorium that can sit over 700 people was filled to the last seat and tickets for the guest performance of a YDT production were sold out as soon as they became available. The level of interest in this production was so high that shortly before the performance was due to begin scalpers were selling tickets outside the CNT Zagreb at double the price.
The audience hung on every word and at times “interrupted” the performance with gales of laughter and applause. The cast including Dragan Bjelogrlić, Jasna Đuričić, Nenad Jezdić, Anita Mančić, Ljubomir Bandović, Marko Janketić, Jovana Belović, Sanja Marković, Irfan Mensur, Miloš Samolov, Milica Sužnjević, Miona Marković, Teodora Tomašev, Tara Milutinović, Vanja Radivojević and Nađa Ristić received a five minute standing ovation which, according to our hosts, is far from typical for Zagreb audiences.
A guest performance by the CNT Zagreb at the Yugoslav Drama Theatre is scheduled for 4th June with the production of In Agony by Miroslav Krleža, directed by Ivica Buljan. The cast includes Krešimir Mikić, Nina Violić, Livio Badurina, Iva Mihalić…
