TITUS ANDRONICUS AT THE UNION OF THEATRES IN EUROPE FESTIVAL IN CLUJ

The 20th edition of the Union of Theatres in Europe – UTE FEST 20 – involving the most important theatre houses from Portugal, Poland, Italy, Greece, Czechia, Hungary, Luxembourg, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Serbia opened on 4th November in Cluj (Romania). The Yugoslav Drama Theatre production of Titus Andronicus by William Shakespeare, directed by András Urbán has been selected to close the Festival on 19th November.

The production opened on our Ljuba Tadić stage on 26th December, 2022 with the cast including Goran Šušljik, Anđelika Simić, Jovana Belović, Veljko Stevanović, Joakim Tasić, Lazar Đukić, Luka Sević, Dragan Sekulić, Petar Petrović, Luka Antonijević, Mladen Lero and Milan Bobić. Adaptation by Vedrana Božinović, set design by András Urbán, costume design by Lina Leković, original score composed by Irena Popović with Ljiljana Mrkić Popović in charge of speech coaching.

A UTE Board meeting will beheld today at Cluj with Tamara Vučković Manojlović, director of the Yugoslav Drama Theatre, as one of the Board members. The Annual UTE Assembly has been scheduled for Sunday, 19th November and it will be brining together directors and artistic directors of the most important European theatres – members of the Union. Traditionally, new projects, exchanges and cooperation will be discussed at the Assembly. The production of Fires, a co-production between the YDT and the National Theatre of Catalonia from Barcelona, was a part of a pan-European UTE Catastrophy project. The production took part in the Finisterre Festival held at the National Theatre in Porto (Portugal) and in June was performed on the stage of the National Theatre of Catalonia in Barcelona.
