A performance of La Celestina by Fernando de Rojas, directed by Milan Nešković and co-produced by the Yugoslav Drama Theatre and City Theatre Budva, is scheduled for Sunday, 18th and Monday, 19th July at 35th City Theatre Budva festival, held this year under the slogan of Back To Life. La Celestina premièred on 18th July 2019 in Budva, followed by Belgrade on 4th October that same year.
The novel La Celestina is written entirely in dialogue form and is considered one of the greatest works of Spanish literature. With Nataša Ninković in the title role, the rest of the cast includes: Nikola Rakočević, Marta Bjelica, Nikola Šurbanović, Emir Ćatović, Aleksandar Đurica, Anđelika Simić, Katarina Žutić and Maja Stojanović. Adaptation and dramaturgy by Maja Todorović. Set design by Jasmina Holbus, costume design by Bilјana Grgur, choreography by Ista Stepanov with music composed by Vladimir Pejković.
Another Yugoslav Drama Theatre production will be performed in Budva, this time on the stage between the churches. This is the production of My Husband by Rumena Buzharovska, directed by Jovana Tomić, with performance scheduled for Wednesday, 21st July.
The cast includes Sanja Marković and Jovana Belović. Dramaturgy by Dimitrije Kokanov, costume design by Maja Marković with original score composed by Luka Major.
The production of My Husband opened on 18th April this year at our Studio YDT stage. It has already had guest performances on 2nd July at the “Gradac” cultural centre in Raška and on 8th July at BELEF. The next scheduled performance, after City Theatre Budva, is at the Ohrid Summer Festival in Ohrid (North Macedonia) while another guest performance is expected in Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in the autumn.
