The Dance with Me video project, produced by the Thalia Theatre, is a result of cooperation between this theatre and the YDT as part of the You Perform international project for the young. The project was presented today at the GRENZGÄNGER FESTIVAL 2021 – Live und Digital. The festival was organised by the department for theatre education for the young of this Hamburg based theatre.

The Dance with Me footage will be available on Thalia Theatre and YDT websites for the duration of the festival, from 18th until 26th June 2021. This is a virtual exchange between young people from Belgrade and Hamburg – participants in the You Perform project. Even though these young people have not yet had a chance to meet in person due to the pandemic, nor have they ever visited Belgrade, i.e. Hamburg, and though they come from different backgrounds, what is special about this film is that it also includes a group of young people with disabilities from Hamburg. List of participants: Marta Đorđević, Luka Golubović, Esther Hase, Kathi Jarchau, Milan Kreutzmann, Lidija Milovac, Nikola Milošević, Janik Müller, Milena Radović, Dimitrije Popmihajlov, Jana Rokić, Natalija Stoiljković and Nick Wachs.

Besides the YDT, the You Perform theatre education project brings together seven more theatres from around Europe – from Germany, the Netherlands, France and Hungary. Due to the pandemic, the project had to be postponed on two occasions and is expected to continue next year when the participants from Serbia are to travel to Hamburg. In view of the fact that the respective groups from Belgrade and Hamburg, together with their mentors, continued their work in a virtual environment, on-line presentations of these two performances are scheduled for September 2021. Theatre director Jovana Tomić and coreographer Igor Koruga worked as supervisors and pedagogues for the Belgrade team.
