Like a trapeze artist, Maniac is in the middle of a police station hanging over an abyss – in a plot that threatens to turn into a hilarious comedy of mistaken identities. The ensemble, led by Nikola Đuričko, will unveil all the illogical links in the chain of events in the death of an anarchist, because behind the mask of comedy lies the world of organised crime, state corruption, political assassinations, religious intolerance and terrorism.
Accidental Death of an Anarchist (1970/71) is about an episode in Italian history better known as the Years of Lead – a wave of terrorist attacks starting in the late 1960s and which lasted until early 1980s.
Dario Fo is a Nobel laureate. He is a leftist artist, just like Elfriede Jelinek with whom he shares not only his political beliefs but also his love for Marxism, revolution, socialism, Brecht and political theatre in general.
Guest performances were given at Days of Satire in Zagreb, Cankarjev Dom in Ljubljana, in Ruma and Lazarevac.
